outdoor craft - upmarket 2013

 

The annual outdoor craft fair UPMARKET that KHVC organizes is on all weekend in the park Trädgårdsföreningen, Göteborg.

Besides all the fun shopping there are two performances:
Newly graduated ceramic artist Matilda Haggärde is making a clay performance where she totally encloses herself in clay (she will be there Saturday 16 - 18 and Sunday 15 - 17).

Textile art students Hållams Linnea Henriksson and Lina Sofia Lundin, Lproduktion, ask if it's possible to pruduce art and sell by the meter.

2013 - it´s about time

About time to start the new year here.

From last week´s visit in Stockholm; a sneak peak through the blås&knåda window where Carl Richard Söderström was preparing his solo show "minor Prophets".
It opened last Saturday and he will give a talk on Feb 7.

in Herman's studio

When you visit Herman Fogelin's studio, it takes a while as there are so many things to look at. And many things to talk about.

I went there to pick up the urn for the big show at Konstepidemin on Saturday. 65 of us artists there invited one fellow artist each to show a piece in the gallery. 130 artists, it will be crowded. Saturday  September 1 we celebrate 25 years at Konstepidemin with a massive Open House Day.

I invited Herman for the show, he was an early inspiration for me and I want to celebrate also that. He still is.

There is a pretty new book about his work, in Swedish only but with lots of colorful images. It can be bought directly at Lerverk craft gallery.

rabbit and rabbit in the green

There they are, Rabbit and Rabbit. Firmly put, will be keeping watch over the green. I am content with the result, and I hope the people who will live there will appreciate their space. They will move in next month, then we'll know if it works.

There are many other rabbits out there...

ardmore ceramics, south africa

At Kiasma, the museum for contemporary art in Helsinki, is right now a big exhibition with Africa-connected artworks. Among others in the ARS 2011 exhibition:

Ardmore Ceramic Art produces stunning ceramic pieces, by over 80 artists in South Africa. It is a ceramic training center, an art gallery and at the same time they work with AIDS prevention. 

The studio is a beautiful success story, visit their web site and see so much more of the beautiful ceramics, color and decor; from small tea cups to unique master pieces...

I'm being so well taken care of by artists Annika Persson and Björn Dahlström from the Drejeriet shop and gallery in Östersund.  Everything is ready for the opening tomorrow, there was time enough for a visit at Härke art center and the studios of Annika and Björn.

If I had a view like that I would never work, just look out. And if I had a summer place like theirs, I would never leave home. Lovely evening!

I share the exhibition space at Nääs with Gunilla Råberg and Anita Carlsson (her work in this post...). One of the mini-cottages in the Nääs exhibition is filled with our ceramics, meant for public and private spaces.

These are the fine bathroom tiles by Gunilla (who also opened her show Vitt/White at blås & knåda yesterday). Subtle and strong at the same time.
