two ceramic temperaments

This is a double post, we are off skiing over the weekend and I want to show the two ceramic shows I saw this week, before leaving.

Photos above:
At Lerverk, the gallery where my show opens next week, Jussi Ojala's majestic vessels are on show. Incredible glazed surfaces.

At Sintra (click "gallery") Chris Vicini shows delicate, detailed, delicious porcellain pieces.

Shows work by four Konstepidemin artists:

Jenny Magnusson

some flowers are still fresh

Some flowers are still fresh.
So many things happened I didn't follow, last weeks, like...

Frida found a book
Andrea made beautiful prints and so did Camilla.
Masala Chai shows Vicky Roy's photos of life as a street kid.
Mel Robson is almost finished with her project, looks beautiful!
Alexanda also had a birthday party, and later missed it
Wrong distance had tea
Susan interviewed Ulla Milbrath, Ullabenulla, at Artstream
Heather opened a shop

...and so much more.
Wish you a week full of things to explore.

water in desert

Another great jewellery artist at Hnoss, until April 20, Peter Hoogeboom.
It's ceramic! Of course I feel connected, little vessels everywhere. Porcellain and paper clay if I got it right. Amazing work, so fine and delicate, and funny. The camel necklace is made out of water bottles...

Paula Lindblom opens her show "everything is relative" at Galleri Kaustik tomorrow, jewellery with a recycled twist. Paula's blog.

This weekend I will spend hours catching up reading blogs, I'm hopelessly behind. I wish you have fun too!

necessary break

That cup is waiting for me, today was first day for outdoor coffee break.

Before: planning for how all my little pieces will come together. After: long information about the new rules for income declaration and taxes.

The 7 fingers, Canadian contemporary circus company visits Sweden in April. I wish this would happen in my street too.

ice by northern artist

Photos from Anna-Sofia Mååg website

Final winter post, here all snow is gone now.

Not until a few weeks after I saw the Swedish movie "PingPong-Kingen" I found out it was Anna Sofia Mååg who created the ice sculptures for the set. It's a funny/sad story shot in a wintery landscape, first I thought I didn't like the film much but it really grew.

Anna Sofia is a ceramic artist living far north in Sweden, did ice sculpting before for the Ice Hotel in Jukkasjärvi. She says the best thing with ice as material is that it doesn't need firing! But she is clever with clay too. See the whole ice process here.

Web cams from Ice Alaska, World Ice art Championships, that just closed but the sculptures are still there.

This must be final winter post.

another continent

I'm catching up. Here are the clay pots I saw at Kalebassi in Haga the other week. They are from Mali, so strong in shape and ornaments, each unique.

Third International small teapot competition, so many teapots!

I'm rewinding memories from birthday party, like a nice film. Look at the piece of art cake, both sweet and glamorous, cake Camilla made here. Still a bit overwhelmed.
Hope your week started well too!
